Chennai likely to get mild rain over weekend – Times of India

Chennai News

CHENNAI: With some luck, the city could get mild rain this weekend because of possible convergence of east-west winds. The Met department has said the days will be cloudy while private weather bloggers say there could be rain over interiors of north Tamil Nadu and possibly over north coastal areas.
Private weather blogger Pradeep John in a post said, “Watchout for rain in Tamil Nadu from March 6 to 8 if the trough from westerly dips deep to north Tamil Nadu.” The possibility of mild rain in the city and interiors of north Tamil Nadu is because a westerly trough from north India may dip further down in the north to south upto Tamil Nadu. Most of the time, the influence of rain because of the trough is restricted to Odisha and north Andhra. This may change this weekend. The Met department, however, has not yet hinted on possibility of rain in the next few days. A forecast for the next two days said, “The sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32°C and 24°C.”
In the past few days, the days and nights are getting warmer gradually as the temperature has been slowly climbing. On Tuesday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2°C and suburbs recorded 33.8°C, an increase by 1°C compared to Monday. But minimum temperature is 24.3°C in the city, an increase by 1.4°C.
