Tamil Nadu: Constable killed after car overturns – Times of India

CHENNAI: A 29-year-old police constable died on Saturday night, while another head constable had a narrow escape their car overturned road when they tried to avoid hitting a stray dog in Kancheepuram.
The deceased has been identified as Durairaj, a grade two constable of Greater Chennai Police. Head constable Sunny Lloyd of Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW), Tiruvannamalai district, was injured. They two were returning to the city from Vandavasi.
Around 8.30 pm, when they neared Sunguvarchathiram on the Chennai-Bengaluru highway, Lloyd lost control of the vehicle when a dog ran across the road.
The vehicle overturned and Durairaj, who was seated in the front seat, died on the spot. His body was sent to the Sriperumbudur government hospital for postmortem. Lloyd was shifted to a private hospital in Chennai after first aid.
The Sunguvarchathiram police have registered a case. Durairaj was a resident of Mansion Site police quarters at Thousand Lights. He is survived by his wife Meena and three-year-old son Mithun.
