Chennai receives summer rain – Times of India

Chennai News

CHENNAI: After several days of sweltering heat, Chennai received surprise showers on Thursday afternoon bringing a temporary relief to people. Weathermen have forecast rainfall for the next 24 hours.
Dark clouds engulfed many parts of the city around 2pm. Minutes later, strong winds blow past many areas as rainfall picked up gradually.
Many localities, including Ennore, Thiruvottiyur in the North, T Nagar, Choolaimedu and Aminjikarai in the Centre and Nanganallur and Alandur in the south received light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder.
The rain was due to the convergence of winds over the interior regions of the state and a few cells moving over the city.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast: “The sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Rail will occur in some areas. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 and 28 degrees Celsius,” for the next 24 hours.
