*DMK criticises CM Palaniswami convoy allegedly causing a traffic jam*

A traffic jam was allegedly caused by Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami’s convoy on Monday. In a video that was doing the rounds, apart from motorcyclists who were not following the norms of social distancing, there was an ambulance that was caught amidst the vehicles.

The Chennai police said the vehicles were stopped for a routine check. However, the video drew criticism from the opposition DMK.

“Congratulations CM! A few days ago, you brought entire cities out on to the road because of your lockdown within a lockdown. Now, you bring the city traffic and ambulances to a standstill. Your humility is amazing,” Kanimozhi tweeted on Monday.

The senior DMK leader was talking about the Chief Minister’s move for a total lockdown in five cities in the State that brought scores of people lining up at grocery stores as panic buying gripped these cities ahead of the complete lockdown.
