Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu: Death toll crosses 2,000 – Times of India

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu on Monday reported deaths of 66 Covid-19 patients as the total toll in the state crossed 2,000 to reach 2032. The deaths reported on Monday included 24 in Chennai.
As many as 4,328 people tested positive for the viral infection on Monday. The total number of cases reached 1,42,798 including 48,196 active cases.
Chennai, with lockdown rules eased, accounted for 1,140 of the fresh cases which took its total confirmed cases to 78,573 including 16,601 total active cases.
Chennai’s three neighbouring districts recorded a total of 908 cases. They include 219 cases in Chengalpet, 352 in Kancheepuram and 337 in Tiruvallur.
Madurai crossed reported 464 cases while Kanyakumari recorded 184 cases. Ranipet reported 126 cases while Theni recorded 134, Tuticorin 122, Tirunelveli 113, Vellore at 129 and Villupuram 136 cases.
Among those tested positive, 17 were passengers who returned from abroad in flights.
Five passengers returned from other states in domestic flights while 36 passengers returned from other states by road.
A total of 3,035 patients were discharged on Saturday. It takes the total number of discharged patients to 92,567.
