CHENNAI: A record 14,030 samples were tested in Chennai on Sunday and the Covid-19 test positivity rate (TPR) was 8.9%, data released by the Greater Chennai Corporation showed.
The test positivity rate is the number of samples testing positive out of every 100. It indicates the spread of the infection among general population.
The TPR for Chennai was 9.5% on Saturday. As many as 12,803 samples were tested on Saturday.
The TPR for Chennai on Friday was 10.1%.
The TPR for Chennai on many days in mid-June was around 30%-35%.
