Tamil Nadu Chennai Coronavirus News Live Updates: Tamil Nadu on Sunday extended the ongoing lockdown in the state for the sixth month till September 30, with further relaxations announced across the state. Public transportation, which had been suspended till August will be allowed to resume from today, while Metro services will resume from September 7 in Chennai.

Places of worship will also be reopened to the public from today. The government will take a decision on intra-state rail services after September 15. Malls, showrooms and big stores will be reopened with 100 per cent capacity from today. All stores will be allowed to operate till 8 pm. Restaurants and tea stalls will operate from 6 am to 8 pm, with takeaway services available till 9 pm. Further, all banks, factories, government offices and IT companies can resume operations with 100 per cent workforce, while film shooting will be resumed with 75 per cent workforce from September 1.

As per the latest guidelines, the mandatory lockdown on Sundays has been lifted and the e-pass system for inter-district travel has been scrapped. E-pass will now be required only while travelling to hill stations.

Playgrounds and parks will also be reopened to the public and stadiums can be reopened without spectators. Educational institutions and theatres will continue to remain closed and all gatherings have been banned. The ongoing social distancing and mask guidelines will continue to remain in place across Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu recorded 5956 positive cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the state tally to 4,28,041. Among these, Chennai reported 1150 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 1,35,597. Tamil Nadu recorded 91 deaths on Monday, putting the state toll at 7322. 81 of them had succumbed due to comorbidities.

His recent work, wherein he turned a family picture of daily-wage labourers into Lord Krishna’s family, has caught the attention of netizens. So far, the picture has received 24,000 re-tweets and 159.7K likes on Twitter.

The artist says he receives 2,000 requests on a daily basis across his Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter pages. He charges for some of the artworks while others are made free of cost.

The graphic artist came in the spotlight in 2017, when his vector image of Lord Hanuman became widely popular. So much so that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mentioned it during an election rally in Karnataka.

Tamil Nadu Congress leader and Kanyakumari MP Harikrishnan Vasanthakumar passed away Friday due to Covid-19. He was 70. Kumar was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai since August 10. He was on ECMO and Ventilator support and monitored by a multidisciplinary team of doctors.
