Tamil Nadu: Cabbie held for kidnap, assault of girl – Times of India

CHENNAI: A 25-year-old call taxi driver was arrested for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a Class XII student at Sankar Nagar on Friday. The man worked as a vegetable vendor during the lockdown and befriended the girl.
Police said the girl had failed in the Class XII examination and left her home on September 18 informing parents that she would return after getting hall ticket for private Class XII examination, but she never returned. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and searched for the missing girl.
During inquiries, police found the girl was kidnapped by cab driver Suresh, a resident of Maduravoyal. He met the girl and befriended her while selling vegetables in Anakaputhur.
A police team tracked the movements of Suresh with his mobile phone location and rescued the girl. Suresh was sent to prison and the girl to a government home for women.
