Minor girl commits suicide after being raped by stepfather in Chennai – Times Now

Chennai: A 42-year-old man, in an inebriated condition, allegedly raped his minor stepdaughter in South Chennai’s Pallikaranai neighbourhood. After the incident, the latter hanged herself to death at her residence.

The accused, identified as Suresh Kumar of Medavakkam, is a daily wager. He lived with his second wife and her two children – a daughter and a son. He was arrested on Friday, following a complaint by his wife.

Drunk man rapes stepdaughter  in wife’s absence

Kumar allegedly raped his stepdaughter a few days back when his wife had gone to work. The now-deceased girl, who was a Class 10 student, was taking an online class at home while her brother was playing outside. Kumar, who was drunk, allegedly raped her and fled from the house, The Times of India reported.

The girl narrated her ordeal to her mother, following which the latter approached the police and registered a complaint against Kumar. Subsequently, police arrested him. He has been booked for sexual assault under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Mother finds girl hanging 

Meanwhile, the girl was found hanging by her mother when the latter returned home from work. Her body was sent to Chromepet Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. Further investigations into the case are underway.

Another incident

In another incident, a 12-year-old differently-abled girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her 25-year-old cousin in Deesa town of Gujarat’s Banaskantha district on Friday. The next day, the beheaded body of the victim was recovered from an isolated spot near Moti Bhakhar village under the territorial limits of Dantiwada police.

“Prima facie, it appears that the 12-year-old girl was raped and then murdered by the accused identified to be her cousin. The body was sent for post-mortem and the report is awaited,” a police official said.
