CHENNAI: Women commuters and children aged up to 12 years accompanying them will be allowed to travel in suburban trains during non-peak hours and the entire day on Sundays starting November 23.
The non-peak hours will be till 7am, 10am to 4.30pm and 7.30pm to closing time of the services.
Southern Railway has scaled up the number of suburban services and is operating 244 trains per day, around 40% of pre-Covid-19 level. In addition to railway employees, staff working in essential services in government and private sector including women are allowed to use the trains.
