CHENNAI: The city police on Friday called back personnel deployed near actor Rajinikanth’s house in Poes Garden. The 14-member police team led by a sub-inspector was posted at the entrance of the street that led towards the actor’s residence off Binny Road.
A police officer attached to the Teynampet police station said, “We had deployed a team of armed reserve police to prevent public gathering on Binny Road.”
The officer said they received distress calls from residents of an apartment complex close to Rajinikanth’s house after they saw people crowding the street.
Police said there was a possibility that there might be flash gatherings near Rajinikanth’s house before his birthday on December 12 (today). Following this, police personnel were posted on the street and they placed barricades across the road 50 metres away from the actor’s residence. The police chased away people who roamed the street. Police said they have assigned a vehicle to patrol Binny Road and nearby areas.
The police team has installed 30 CCTV cameras on Binny Road and near Rajinikanth’s house to monitor the movement of people from a control room set up on the same street.
Rajinikanth has gone to Bengaluru to celebrate his birthday at his elder brother Sathyanarayana’s house.
