Tamil Nadu Telangana Assembly Elections COVID-19 Live Updates: Tamil Nadu recorded 512 positive cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the state tally to 8,35,315. Among these, Chennai reported 159 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 2,30,675. The state recorded eight deaths on Wednesday, putting the state toll at 12,333. Seven of them had succumbed due to comorbidities. The state discharged 564 patients following treatment, putting the total number of recoveries at 8,19,306.

A total of 26 passengers who had returned to Tamil Nadu from UK and 20 of their primary contacts have tested positive for COVID-19 till date. The health bulletin released by the Tamil Nadu health department stated that nine (six UK returnees and three of their contacts) of the 46 samples which had been sent to Instem Lab in Bengaluru were found to have the UK variant of the virus on Whole Genome Sequencing. All 26 primary cases and all 20 positive cases who tested negative in their follow up RT-PCR test have been discharged and kept under home quarantine.

Expelled AIADMK leader V K Sasikala was officially released from a Bengaluru prison on Wednesday after completion of her four-year jail term in a disproportionate asset case in which former chief minister late J Jayalalithaa was also convicted. After visiting the hospital, T T V Dhinakaran, her nephew and leader of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), invoking Jayalalithaa, said time has come to re-establish the real Amma government in poll-bound Tamil Nadu again.

The memorial is surrounded by manicured lush gardens and water cascades.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami Wednesday inaugurated a grand memorial built for AIADMK supremo and former CM J Jayalalithaa. Spread over 50,000 square feet, the structure is built at a cost of Rs 79.75 crore alongside the Marina Beach in Chennai. Apart from CM Edappadi, Deputy Chief Minister O Pannerselvam, Tamil Nadu cabinet ministers, Speaker P Dhanapal, MLAs, MPS, and other dignitaries took part in the mega event.
