Chennai man falls off bus, run over by another vehicle – Times of India

CHENNAI: A man was fatally run over by an unidentified vehicle near Acharapakkam in the early hours of Tuesday after he fell off the footboard of a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus. The man was sitting and sleeping on the footboard of the Chennai- Kallakurichi bus.
The deceased has been identified as Ezhumalai, 40, of Washermenpet in Chennai.
Ezhumalai was going to Kallakurichi to visit a relative there. Since the bus was crowded, he sat on the footboard and slept. When the bus reached Acharapakkam around 3am, he fell off the footboard and was run over by another vehicle.
Some passengers, who were awake, alerted the bus crew. They stopped the bus and informed police. The body was sent to Government Hospital in Madhuranthagam for postmortem.
