CHENNAI: Four days ahead of Tamil Nadu assembly polls, income tax department conducted searches at the DMK chief MK Stalin’s daughter’s houses in Chennai.
Of the eight places where searches commenced this morning, four in Chennai are linked to Stalin’s daughter Senthamarai and son-in-law Sabareesan.
Income tax officials said searches started on Friday morning at Stalin’s daughter’s houses in Teynampet and Neelangarai. IT sources said the searches were initiated based on complaints and inputs received by the department.

Searches are also being conducted at some IT wing functionaries of DMK namely Karthik and Mohan, sources said.
As of now, no documents or cash has been seized by the officials, sources said.
Opposition party leaders were quick to condemn the searches and linked it to the elections. and said they were. They also termed it political vendetta.
Dmk general secretary Durwimurugsn said DMK cannot be cowed down by income tax searches. He called the action politically motivated.

TNCC president KS Alagiri also condemned the searches.
K Balakrishnan, state secretary Of CPI, said the intention of the central government would not fructify.
VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan said the searches were designed to put political pressure on DMK and its leaders.
