Tamil Nadu Covid lockdown news live: 80MT of oxygen arrives in Chennai from Rourkela

Amid rising cases of Covid-19 and tardy implementation of the lockdown measures in force across TN from May 10 to May 24, an all party meet chaired by chief minister MK Stalin on Thursday resolved to intensify the existing restrictions. The despatch of the first tanker loaded with 4.8 metric tonnes of medical grade oxygen from the Sterlite plant on Thursday morning came as a relief to hospitals in the southern districts which have been seeing a high influx of Covid-19 patients in need of oxygen. To boost supply, the Tamil Nadu govt has announced special incentives including 30% capital subsidy for fresh investments made for manufacturing ventilators and oxygen cylinders and producing medical oxygen.
