Chennai, Hyderabad Coronavirus News Live Updates: Tamil Nadu recorded 25,317 positive cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the state tally to 21,48,346. Among these, Chennai reported 2217 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 5,09,234. The state recorded 483 deaths on Wednesday, putting the state toll at 25,205. 368 of them had succumbed due to comorbidities. A total of 32,263 patients were discharged following treatment, taking the total number of recoveries to 18,34,439.

Telangana reported 2384 new infections and 2,242 recoveries from coronavirus infections on Wednesday. The days also witnessed 17 lives succumb to the virus. The number of patients under treatment and home or institutional isolation now stands at 33,379. As many as 1,08,696 tests were conducted during the day. Results were awaited for 1,847 samples. The test positivity rate for the day was 2.23 percent.

A 21-year-old youth was arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Chennai Central station on Tuesday morning for carrying bundles of currency notes worth Rs 28 lakh without any valid proof. He was handed over to the income tax officials for further questioning.
