Chennai, Hyderabad Coronavirus News June 23, 24 Highlights: Tamil Nadu on Thursday recorded 6,162 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 155 deaths. The caseload so far was 24,49,577 and the death toll till date was 31,901. As many as 9,046 people got discharged today, taking the tally to 23,67,831 leaving 49,845 active infections. Among the 155 deaths,127 succumbed due to comorbidities.

In line with the Covid-19 lockdown relaxations announced by the Tamil Nadu Government, the Southern Railways on Thursday informed that the suburban trains services will resume in Chennai from June 25.

To avoid gathering of people, the Southern Railways has classified the passengers into  different categories and the travel pattern would change accordingly.

Women and Children below 12 years are allowed to board the trains anytime while there are certain restrictions for male passengers.

A police officer was arrested in Tamil Nadu after a 47-year-old farmer he allegedly beat up succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday. In a purported video of the incident which has gone viral, the police officer was seen beating up Murugesan, a resident of Edayamapatti village near Salem, with a lathi even as his friends were pleading with the cop to stop.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the withdrawal of 11 criminal complaints by different magistrates in the state against Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, registering criminal revision cases in the matter.
