Chennai, Hyderabad Coronavirus News Live Updates: Tamil Nadu recorded 4804 positive cases of Covid-19 on Monday, bringing the state tally to 24,70,678. Among these, Chennai reported 291 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 5,32,006. The state recorded 98 deaths on Monday, putting the state toll at 32,388. 76 of them had succumbed due to comorbidities. A total of 6553 patients were discharged following treatment, taking the total number of recoveries to 23,97,336.

Telangana reported less than 1,000 COVID-19 cases for the second consecutive day on Monday. A total of 993 infections during the day took the tally to over 6.21 lakh while the death toll stood at 3,644 with nine casualties. The number of active cases was 13,869. The total number of cases in the State stood at 6,21,606, while with1,417 people being cured, the total recoveries were at 6,04,093.

A Chennai-based artist has modelled an auto-rickshaw after vaccines in a bid to raise awareness about Covid-19 vaccination. Large replicas of syringes and vaccine vials have been attached to the vehicle modified using pipes, plywood, cardboard and painted in light blue colour.

Anumula Revanth Reddy, the 55-year-old MP from Malkajgiri and a two-time MLA, is the new chief of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). The firebrand leader replaced another parliamentarian, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who held the post for the last seven years since the formation of a separate state. Revanth will assume the new role on July 7.
