Tamil Nadu Chennai News Live Updates: The Tamil Nadu BJP unit has constituted a 17-member committee ahead of the upcoming local body polls in the state. The urban local body polls are likely to be held before December.
Tamil Nadu recorded 1,949 positive cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, bringing the state tally to 25,67,401. Among these, Chennai reported 189 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 5,38,908. The state recorded 38 deaths on Wednesday, putting the state toll at 34,197. A total of 2,011 patients were discharged following treatment, taking the total number of recoveries to 25,13,087.

The Tamil Nadu government will launch a scheme to carry out archanai (religious chanting and offering) in Tamil at Kapaleeswarar temple, Mylapore in Chennai on Wednesday and it will later be expanded to 46 other big temples across the state, said Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department Minister (HR&CE) PK Sekar Babu.
