Two Covid clusters with more than 20 cases identified in Chennai – Times of India

CHENNAI: Two clusters of more than 20 Covid-19 cases have been identified in Chennai in the last one week.
The first one is in Vardhammal Garden Street in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar. Out of the 275 samples collected, 20 tested positive for Coivid-19.
The second cluster is an apartment complex on the Model School Road in Sholinganallur. Out of the 398 samples collected, 23 tested positive. Six of them are children. All these cases were tested on August 7,8 and 9.
Twenty-one of the total patients (from both the clusters) were admitted to hospitals and five to Covid care centres. The remaining were in home isolation.
According to the Greater Chennai Corporation, there were three index patients. The sources of infection have been identified as a temple function, a shop at Sowcarpet and VHS Hospital.
