Tamil Nadu Chennai News Live Updates: With metro rail project by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) having commenced along Chennai’s Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), four toll booths along the stretch have suspended collection of toll from today.
Collection has been suspended at Perungudi, Thoraipakkam, Kalaignar Salai and Medavakkam Salai from today. Commuters will however, continue to pay toll at Navalur.
State Minister for PWD and Highways E V Velu had made the announcement on Friday during the Assembly session and added that the government will also take measures to close toll booths at five locations near Chennai, namely Nimili, Vanagaram, Surapattu, Paranur and Chennasamudram.
