Chennai customs seizes gold worth Rs 2.19 crore from passengers’ laptops, tablets – Times of India

CHENNAI: Customs officials at Chennai international airport on Wednesday seized 5.06 kg of gold — worth Rs 2.19 crore – from 10 passengers.
The passengers had hidden gold foils in used laptops and tablets.
The officials also seized electronic goods worth Rs 48.6 lakh from the passengers, who arrived here from Dubai in Emirates (EK-544) and SriLankan (UL 121, Colombo transit) flights.
Five passengers were arrested. Further investigations were on.
