CHENNAI: Three months after getting married to his distant relative, a man was abducted and murdered by his wife’s family at Tiruttani. The family separated the couple citing it to be an incestuous relationship.
The victim, 25-year-old A Rasukutty from Thadoor village in Tiruttani, was working in a private firm. Rasukutty was in a relationship with N Keerthana, 21, from his locality and married her three months back. Keerthana’s family was unhappy with this and alleged that the two were related to each other. She was taken home by her father Nooraj.
Rasukutty made several attempts to live with his wife but was warned and sent back home.
Last month, he went missing while he was returning from work. His family lodged a police complaint. With delayed action, the family staged a protest in front of the ASP office in Tiruttani. Police found Rasukutty’s body with stab wounds alongside a lake.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Rasukutty was murdered by Nooraj, along with Bairavan, Chakravarthy and Venkatesan, all from Vyasarpadi. The woman’s family did not want the couple to reunite as it would bring shame to their family. The four men have been remanded in judicial custody.
