Tamil Nadu News Live Updates: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Wednesday gave away cheques to 13 healthcare personnel at the Secretariat in the Fort St George premises in Chennai, PTI reported, launching a Rs 196.91 crore incentive scheme for over a lakh healthcare personnel for their services during the Covid-19 second wave.

Meanwhile, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder Dr Ramadoss said that his party will not rest until the 10.5% sub-reservation for the Vanniyar community within the 20% quota for the Most Backward Class (MBC) in government jobs and education is restored. The reaction came after the Madras High Court quashed the Vanniyar quota on Monday. Ramadoss claimed that the Vanniyar community had fallen behind in terms of education and employment.

In other news, the Tamil Nadu governor and state party leaders extended wishes for Diwali. “Let joy and happiness prevail on the occasion and wish all good health, wealth and prosperity to the people”, AIADMK top leaders O Panneerselvam and K Palaniswami said in a joint statement, while Governor R N Ravi wished a “happy and green” Diwali to everyone.
