CHENNAI: Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari took charge as acting Chief Justice of Madras high court on Monday. Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi administered the oath of office to him at an event held in Raj Bhavan.
Chief minister of Tamil Nadu M K Stalin and other dignitaries who attended the function greeted Justice Bhandari.
Later, an event was held on Madras high court campus to welcome the ACJ.
“We (Bar and Bench) need to join hands to serve the public,” Justice Bhandari said to a gathering present in the function.
“I have visited many places in Tamil Nadu. I fell in love with the state and dreamed of being born in this state five years ago. Today, my dream is coming true. I was born today to serve the state of Tamil Nadu and the legal fraternity,” Justice Bhandari said in reply to the welcome address of advocate general R Shunmugasundaram.
In his welcome address, the advocate general said, “I am sure that this high court would benefit from the vast experience of your lordship.”
