CHENNAI: The placement season in IIT-Madras for 2021-22 began with a bang as students received 176 job offers, including 11 international offers, during the first session of Day 1 on Wednesday. This is the highest ever number of placements in the first session on day one. Totally, 34 companies participated in the first session.
Last year, 123 offers were made by 22 companies in the first session (1.1).
The main recruiters of this year’s first session include Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Bajaj Auto, Bain and Company, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Boston Consulting Group, JP Morgan Chase and Co and McKinsey.
Students received 231 pre-placement offers during 2021-22.
CS Shanksr Ram, advisor (placement and training), IIT-Madras, expressed hope they would continue to place more students in jobs that meet their aspirations over the next few days.
The second slot of Day 1 placements (Session 1.2) is being held between 4 pm to midnight on Wednesday. Totally, 32 companies are recruiting for 68 profiles. These companies include Amazon, Groww, Flipkart, Intel, Samsung and Twitter.
The phase I of placements is expected to continue till December 10.
A total of 1,498 students have registered for placements in the 2021-22 across different streams of study. The total number of companies that have registered for Phase I Placements is 382. They will be recruiting for a total of 738 profiles.
