New Year eve liquor sales dip in Tamil Nadu – Times of India

CHENNAI: Liquor sales during the New Year’s eve in Tamil Nadu on Friday were down by Rs 12 crore compared to 2020.
Alcohol marketed through Tasmac liquor shops recorded a sale of around Rs 147.7 crore on December 31, 2021, according to Tasmac sources. In 2020, the total sale on the New Year’s eve was around Rs 160 crore.
Chennai zone comprising the city and neighbouring district witnessed the highest sale of Rs 41.4 crore in the state, which was followed by Madurai region recording sales to the tune of Rs 27.4 crore.
New Year eve sales of liquor in Coimbatore, Salem and Trichy zones ranged from Rs 25.4 crore to Rs 26.8 crore.
