Sunday lockdown: Only 343 suburban trains to be run in Chennai – Times of India

CHENNAI: Southern Railway will operate only 343 suburban trains, around 50% of the usual services, in Chennai on Sunday as the Tamil Nadu government has announced a complete lockdown on that day to curb the spread of Covid-19. There is no change in the schedule of mail/express trains.
The frequency of suburban trains will be once in 30 minutes during peak hours.
There will be 113 services on the Chennai Central – Arakkonam section, 60 on the Chennai Central – Gummidipoondi section, 36 on the Chennai Beach – Velachery section and 120 on the Chennai Beach – Chengalpet section.
Railways will also operate EMU specials in addition to these services. There will be two services on the Avadi – Pattabiram Military Siding ‘E’ Depot section, two services on the Pattabiram Military Siding ‘E’ Depot – Avadi section, five services on the Pattabiram – Pattabiram Military Siding ‘E’ Depot section and five services on the Pattabiram Military Siding ‘E’ Depot – Pattabiram section.
Railways will close all the passenger reservation centres in Chennai division on Sunday. But current reservation counters at railway stations will be open.
