Chennai, Tamil Nadu Live News: Tamil Nadu on Wednesday recorded less than 30,000 Covid-19 infections, earlier it recorded 29,976 cases, as per health department. 47 people succumbed to the deadly disease. But, the state is also witnessing a declining trend after reaching 30,744 cases on January 22. Chennai districts that contributed to the total active cases across State were:Coimbatore 3,740, Chengalpet 1,883, Tiruppur 1,787, Salem 1,457, Erode 1,302 and Kanyakumari 1,035 with the remaining in other districts.

On occasion of the 73rd Republic Day celebrations, Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi on Wednesday unfurled the Tricolour flag near the Gandhi Square on Kamarajar Salai in Chennai in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin, state cabinet ministers, and other senior officials.

Meanwhile, the Madras High Court on Tuesday gave its nod to hold elections to urban local bodies in Tamil Nadu and said it will monitor the conduct of the polls in the state. Also, wondering as to what is the difficulty in making Hindi the third language in educational institutions, the first bench of the Madras High Court said on Tuesday that if one doesn’t learn Hindi, it would be very difficult to secure a job in North India.
