Chennai: DMK, AIADMK candidate lists today – Times of India

CHENNAI: The DMK on Tuesday released a list 11 candidates in fray for wards in the Alandur zone of the Chennai corporation. The party is likely to release candidates lists for wards in other zones on Wednesday.
It also released lists of candidates contesting in neighbouring local bodies such as Tambaram corporation, Mangadu municipality, Maraimalainagar, Kundrathur, Thiruporur and Chengalpettu.
According to party sources, the DMK seeks to field new candidates this election. Many of the party’s former councillors are two-time winners.
This time, however, we want to give opportunity to new candidates. In Chennai, especially, new faces will be nominated, said a DMK spokesperson. The AIADMK too is likely to release its candidate lists for Chennai corporation wards on Wednesday. The party has, however, released lists for other districts such as Cuddalore and Villupuram.
The NTK has released its candidate list for Chennai corporation, Tanjavur corporation, Thirunelveli, Tirupur, Tiruchi and other districts. Candidates of most parties will file their nominations on Wednesday after respective final lists are announced. The last date to file them is February 4. As on February 1, the civic body has received 108 nominations.
