CHENNAI: Gold jewellery weighing 17 sovereigns and silver articles have been stolen from a house at Perambur in Chennai.
The burglary happened in the house of M Arockiadoss of Jaya Garden who is working in a private firm. His wife, Irudhaya Mary, works at a grocery store.
On Wednesday morning, they found the jewellery missing from a cupboard and approached the Thiru Vi Ka Nagar police. Irudhaya Mary told the police that she saw the jewellery last on Tuesday morning.
Mary used to keep the keys of the house at a window for her son who is a school student. Police suspect that someone who knew it might have taken the keys and stolen the valuables.
A case was registered, and further investigations were on.
