Chennai Corporation invites residents to take up greenery work on road medians – Times of India

CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation has invited individuals and resident welfare associations to take up greenery work on the medians of bus route roads under the Namakku Naame Thittam.
In a statement, the corporation said under the Namakku Naame scheme, the residents welfare associations which maintain the median can keep their name boards in one-third of the place, while the civic body will keep its name board in two-thirds.
The corporation will issue work licences to individuals or RWAs if they are willing to contribute 50% of the work costs, while the corporation would bear the rest of the amount.
So far, eight individuals have taken up greening projects on medians by planting flowers and plants at a total cost of Rs 49 crore.
The corporation is planting trees and plants under the Koyambedu flyover at a cost of Rs 82 lakh.
The residents can contact their zonal offices to enrol to take up work.
