Chennai: History-sheeters on the run nabbed in separate cases – Times of India

CHENNAI: A 36-year-old notorious history-sheeter named in 35 cases, including five murder charges, was arrested from Namakkal by a special team of Kilpauk police.
Sagayam alias Devasagayam of Semmanchery, the accused, failed to appear for trial in three different cases registered against him at Chetpet police station. Following this, non-bailable warrants were executed against him.
A special team launched a hunt for him and came to know that he was hiding in Namakkal. Sagayam was picked up from a hideout and brought to Chennai on Monday. Police said that he would be remanded in judicial custody and would be taken into police custody later.
In another case, a police team apprehended history-sheeter Ranjith from a hideout in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Ranjith used to live in a flat on the eighth floor of an apartment complex at Chinnamalai near Saidapet. After Ranjith’st affair with another woman came to light, his wife asked him to leave the house.
Ranjith suspected his car driver had informed his wife. Ranjith had attacked his driver. The injured driver was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for treatment. Based on his complaint, police registered a case and arrested Ranjith from the Andamans by tracking his mobile phone.
