Chennai News

Chennai: American banking major BNY Mellon is inaugurating its new Chennai facility at Embassy Splendid Tech Zone on Pallavaram — Thuraipakkam radial road, which will be the global bank’s single largest facility for BNY Mellon in India as well as largest outside of North America.
Spread across eight floors (plus lobby), the initial phase is now operational with over an area of 3.73 lakh sq ft space. The remaining two floors will be completed by Q3-2022 in a second phase, bringing the total facility size to around 4.77 lakh sq ft, the company told TOI. While BNY already had three smaller facilities in Chennai, it now plans to bring all the product, operations and technology teams into this new facility. BNY Mellon India’s employee headcount is now at around 15,000, and its total footprint in India is now more than 1.36 million sq ft across Chennai and Pune. While the company did not disclose the amount of investment that has gone into the new facility, it said that it can house around 6,000 people (including collaborative spaces), and BNY is actively hiring for roles such as full stack developer, data science, native cloud developers, data analysts, digital assets, financial reporting, financial management and analysis, and credit risk among others.
“Our India teams are now involved in the end-to-end client lifecycle, and the value created by our centres here is on par with other global centres,” Nitin Chandel, MD and head, BNY Mellon Technology, India, said.
