Chennai, Tamil Nadu News Live Updates Today: The Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT Madras) reported 26 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday taking the total number of confirmed cases since April 19 to 171, Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan said. “There are no other clusters in Chennai apart from IIT Madras cluster,” Radhakrishnan added.

Meanwhile, The Greater Chennai Traffic Police announced new traffic diversions at the Nandanam junction on Anna Salai to reduce congestion. The new arrangement will be on trail for 10 days from tomorrow. In other news, part of the Perungudi landfill, located on the outskirts of Chennai, has been ablaze since around 3 pm Wednesday. Smoke has been billowing from a hill of trash at the landfill, causing a health hazard to nearby residents. Vehicles travelling on the Pallavaram–Thoraipakkam 200 feet radial road have been experiencing poor visibility since last evening.

Also, the Madras High Court on Wednesday set aside a 2013 order of the Tamil Nadu government’s Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department taking over the administration of the Ayodhya Mandapam, a temple that was run by the Sri Ram Samaj at West Mambalam in Chennai.
