Chennai News

Chennai: The driver and his accomplice who killed and buried a Mylapore-based senior citizen couple after they returned from the US were brought to the city on Sunday after being nabbed in Andhra Pradesh.
About 8kg of gold worth nearly ₹4 crore, 40kg of silver and a car were seized.
L Krishna, the driver, and his friend P Ravi of Darjeeling, beat to death Srikanth, 60, an auditor, and his wife, Anuradha, 58, stole their jewellery and buried them at their farmhouse in Nemili.
The culprits were nabbed after CCTV footage from toll plazas showed Srikanth’s car headed towards Ongole. The crime came to light after the couple’s US-based son alerted his friends as his parents could not be contacted. They broke open the house and found the lockers empty.
“We ensured the accused are caught before escaping to Nepal,” said N Kannan, additional commissioner of police, South.
