Chennai: Against the backdrop of allegations of power outages, electricity minister V Senthil Balaji on Monday said the Tangedco not only provided uninterrupted power supply in TN, but also sold to the power exchange 1.4 lakh units on May 1 and 4.5 lakh units on May 8 at ₹12/unit.
Talking to reporters in Chennai, the minister said the power utility met the highest demand of 38.9 lakh units on April 29. “There is a demand for 72,000MT of coal everyday. However, the state received only 48,000MT to 50,000MT a day. After the chief minister sought the intervention of the Centre, there is a supply of 57,000MT a day,” the minister said. Of the total capacity of 4,320MW in the state-run thermal plants, 4,165MW was generated on April 27.
