Remnants of cyclone to keep Chennai cool for two more days – Times of India

Chennai News

CHENNAI: The city is likely to experience rain and pleasant weather for two days as the influence of an upper air circulation caused by the after effects of Cyclone Asani continues.
The rain that lashed many parts of the southern and northern suburbs on Saturday evening may recur today.
A forecast by the met department for 48 hours said that “sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur in some areas.” An air circulation which is a remnant of Cyclone Aasani is bringing the rain, said a met official.
Private weather bloggers posted that the city will experience rain after a hot day for the next two days.
Rain will be mostly focused on the southern regions of the city as the met department has forecast rain with thunder and lightning for Puducherry, Karaikal in addition to the western and southern districts including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Theni and Tirunelveli.
Live weather tracking sites showed dense rain clouds over the city stretching all the way down to Tindivanam in the south and to Hosur, Krishnagiri and near Bengaluru in the west on Saturday.
The daytime temperature has started to reduce. Nungambakkam recorded 36.3C, a departure from normal by 0.8C, and Meenambakkam recorded 37.8C, a reduction of 0.6C.
The forecast for Sunday says t maximum temperature is likely to be around 36C and minimum temperature is likely to be 27C in the city.
The cyclone has weakened and its remnants have moved south of Andhra Pradesh over Chennai and coastal areas. The lower portion of the cyclone dissipates after landfall but the upper portion remains and usually takes time to weaken. This is causing rain in the state.
