Madras high court to get 2 new judges – Times of India

Chennai News

CHENNAI: The Madras high court is set to get two new judges, as the Union law ministry cleared the names of advocates Sundar Mohan and K Kumaresh Babu as additional judges.
The two were on a list of six names sent by the court in 2021. All were cleared by the Supreme Court collegium on February 16, 2022. However, the Union law ministry okayed only Justice Nidumolu Mala and Justice S Sounthar in March. The present approval comes after more than three months.
R John Sathyan and Abdul Ghani Abdul Hameed are still awaiting the law ministry’s nod.
With their appointment, the number of judges in the Madras high court will rise to 59 against the sanctioned 75. The court tops the nation with 13 women judges.
