Chennai: Three more held for partying on terrace – Times of India

CHENNAI: Three more people were arrested in connection with running an illegal rooftop bar at a mall in Anna Nagar where one customer – a techie – died while partying last Saturday. Police have so far arrested six people in connection with the incident.
Prohibition enforcement wing (PEW) had arrested Ravindrakumar, 26, Vignesh, 31, coordinators of ‘Great Indian Gathering’ and A Pavan, 34, general manager of Monkey Bar on Wednesday and remanded them to judicial custody.
The prohibition enforcement wing (PEW) had already arrested Nivas Bojaraj, manager of the Madras Bar, Bharathi, manager of Monkey Bar and Edwin, the event-in-charge of Madras Bar.
S Praveen of Madiapakkam, 23, a techie, had collapsed at the rave party around 8 pm last Saturday, and was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but he died without responding to treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH), where he was later shifted, due to a suspected overdose of alcohol.
The event was organised by Great Indian Gathering and participants were charged 2,000 for entry. The participants were served liquor for which the organiser did not have permission.
