Chennai: Fresh Covid-19 cases decreased to 55 on Friday compared to 59 on Thursday, but active cases rose to 401 from 387 aday before. The state discharged 41 patients by the end of the day, and continued to report zero deaths.
On Friday, Chennai reported 35 new casestwo more than its Thursday tally while Chengalpet added nine. Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur reported three each, Virudhunagar recorded one, while Cuddalore, Kancheepuram and Kanyakumari. Thirty of 38 districts reported no new cases.
Of the 401 active cases, 219 were in Chennai, 85 in Chengalpet and 28 in Coimbatore. Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram reported 13 and 12 patients under treatment respectively.
Twenty districts had between one and seven patients in isolation and thirteen districts had zero active cases.
At least 29 patients were in hospitals across the state. While eleven of them were on oxygen beds, one patient in Chennai was in the ICU
