New Covid cluster identified in Chennai – Times of India

CHENNAI: For the third consecutive day, the number of daily Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu has increased. It crossed 70-mark on Sunday after 78 days. With 77 people testing positive in the past 24 days, the number of active cases too has increased to 448 – a 12% increase compared to what it was three days ago.
However, the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) has remained unchanged at 0.4% during this time period. Of the new cases, almost 80% were only from two districts – Chennai (32) and Chengalpattu (30). Together, they have 347 active cases, but only 23 needed hospitalisation. Health minister Ma Subramanian said a new cluster has been identified at a private institution in Kelambakkam as 25 students have tested positive so far. Also, thirty other districts in TN had no new Covid-19 infections.
