Nalini Sriharan moves Madras HC seeking parole for husband – Times of India

Chennai News

CHENNAI: A life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, S Nalini, has moved the Madras high court seeking six days of parole for her husband and co-convict Sriharan alias Murugan on health grounds.
Nalini, who is India’s longest serving woman prisoner, submitted that though the state government granted parole to her, the application made by her husband had been kept pending.
According to Nalini, the authorities should have considered her representation dated May 26 and granted emergency leave to her husband since the leave sought for was on medical grounds. She further added that her husband had already served more than 31 years of imprisonment and as early as September 9, 2018 the council of ministers of TN advised the governor to release all the convicts in the case. “So far, my husband has not been released as per the advice of the council of ministers. Though I continue to be on parole despite two of my representations his leave has not been considered yet,” she said. tnn
