Madras HC gets 2 more judges – Times of India

CHENNAI: Justice Sunder Mohan and Justice Kabali Kumaresh Babu have been appointed judges of the Madras high court. A notification issued by the Union ministry of law and justice said the two had been appointed as additional judges for a two-year term.
Strength of HC judges now 59
Justice Sunder Mohan and Justice Kabali Kumaresh Babu have been appointed to the Madras high court, taking the total number of judges to 59 against the sanctioned strength of 75. As per the notification issued by the Union ministry of law and justice, the two have been appointed additional judges for a two-year term.
They were part of a list of six names sent by the high court collegium in 2021. All the six names were cleared for appointment by the Supreme Court collegium on February 16, 2022. The other four were appointed judges earlier, while the Union ministry cleared the names of Sundar Mohan and Kumaresh Babu only on May 23.
