Tamil Nadu registers 1,382 covid cases, zero deaths – Times of India

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu added 1,382 new cases on Saturday, with 607 cases in Chennai. While the state reported 23 cases more than its tally on Friday, fresh cases in the city fell marginally from 616 in the last 24 hours. Active cases in the state increased to 6,677 of which 364 people were admitted to hospitals.
Barring Ariyalur, Dindigul and Ramanathapuram all districts reported new cases. After Chennai, Chengalpet (240) reported the highest number of cases. Tiruvallur had 83 and Kancheepuram recorded 64 new cases, taking the cases in the four districts of the Chennai region to 996. Together the Chennai region had nearly 73% of the fresh cases reported in the state.

While fresh cases in Coimbatore increased to 89, the new cluster at the government medical college in Tuticorin pushed cases in the district to 60. Saturation testing will be done at the medical college in Tuticorin, officials said. “Cases are likely to increase with saturation testing, but like every other campus cluster we will be able to bring it under control,” officials said. While Kanyakumari reported 49 new cases, Virudhunagar reported 26.
