Chennai, Tamil Nadu News Live Updates:  Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin Thursday held a meeting with District Collectors of 14 districts via video conferencing after a flood alert has been issued in various districts of the state.

With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rains this week, the State administration has taken precautionary measures for rescue and relief operation. According to a release, isolated heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places is likely to occur over Theni, Dindigul, Thirupur and Coimbatore, and Nilgiris districts on Thursday. The weather department also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Erode, Virudhunagar and Tenkasi district of Tamilnadu. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Namakkal, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Madurai & Tirunelveli districts of Tamilnadu.

In a separate development, the Supreme Court on Wednesday set aside a Madras High Court order of a CBI probe into allegations of corruption against then Chief Minister and AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami in awarding contracts in the state highways department. Also, Madras High Court Chief Justice M N Bhandari on Wednesday said he will discuss with the judge concerned a plea to change the bench hearing the civil suit of AIADMK rebel leader O Panneerselvam and pass an administrative order related to it later.
