Chennai News Live Updates: A 17-year-old football player died on Tuesday at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) in Chennai due to medical negligence. The deceased has been identified as R Priya, who was pursuing her BSc Physical Education at a private college in Chennai. She was residing at Vyasarpadi with her family in Chennai. Health Minister Ma Subramanaian announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the deceased and a government job for one of the family members.
Nalini Sriharan, on Tuesday appealed to the State and Central government to release four other Sri Lankan nationals, including her husband, from the Trichy special camp, reports news agency ANI. “This special camp is also like a prison again,” she said. Claiming herself to be staunch ‘Gandhi’ supporter, Nalini said, “A few people oppose our release. When Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were assassinated, our family was sad and we refused to even have a meal. I cannot accept that I was named in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. I should be free of that blame. We don’t know who assassinated him.”
