CHENNAI: A day after a question paper mix-up marred Tamil semester examination at Madras University, the state higher education department has formed a committee to probe the incident.
The university postponed the morning and afternoon exams to a later date.
A three-member committee, headed by technical education commissioner G Laxmi Priya, was formed on Saturday to probe how the mix-up happened.
It will have to suggest measures to prevent such events in future and recommend action against the officials concerned.
The committee has been given two months to complete the inquiry.
Third semester students who, took their Tamil exam on Friday, were shocked on seeing the question paper as they did not know the answers to any of the questions.
It was found that the questions were from the fourth semester arrear exams scheduled in the afternoon.
Officials said the question paper was printed with the wrong subject code due to an error by the subject expert who set the question.
