As per the weather department, Tamil Nadu is likely to receive moderate rain, thunderstorms and lightening in isolated places in Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur district of Tamilnadu and Karaikal in the next one to three hours.
By India Today Web Desk: After experiencing a dry week and subdued rainfall activities, the regional meteorological center of Chennai has forecasted moderate rainfall likely to occur in Chennai and other parts of the state.
The officials mentioned that rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning will occur over places like Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur and Thiruvarur districts of Tamilnadu and Karaikal in the next one to three hours.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) further said “Light to Moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Ranipet, Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Thirupattur, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thiruchirappalli, Nilgiris & Thirunelveli districts of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry during next 1 to 3 hours.”
On Saturday, parts of Tamil Nadu received light spells and by the evening, Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded 4mm and 0.4mm of rainfall.
Several parts of Tamil Nadu will receive moderate rainfall on December 25 and 26 after a new low-pressure area turns into a depression over the Bay of Bengal.
For the unversed, the state received 425.1mm, which is 2% below normal since October 1 and Chennai has recorded 884.7mm, which is 12% above normal.
