Chennai: A boxing sports complex with modern technology will be set up at Sunnambu Kalvai in Tondiarpet in North Chennai region at ₹10 crore by Greater Chennai Corporation. The government has accorded it administrative sanction.
Announcing the project in the assembly in April 2022, chief minister M K Stalin said North Chennai region, famous for promoting various sports talents, would get a modern sports complex to encourage and develop youth. The complex will have a modern gym, facilities for volleyball, badminton, basketball, boxing, kabaddi and other indoor games apart from a running track, skating rink and children’s playground. A detailed project report, prepared by the corporation, was submitted to the municipal administration and water supply department which approved it.
